“ONE-Dyas is a relatively small organisation, but as an innovative and active company we also possess a huge drive to keep moving forward. So I think one of the best things about my job is the fact this opens up a diversity of tasks. I’m involved in all sorts of areas, dealing with every department from the office to offshore.

The company is definitely typified by a healthy optimism. We all share a real belief that we will succeed in our objectives, including reaching near zero emissions. In terms of HSE, the main objectives are obviously to keep people safe and eliminate accidents altogether – that’s our ultimate goal. But overall, I’d also say we want to be a ‘good neighbour’, which means acting with consideration and respect for all stakeholders, not to mention the environment of course. So another aspect of my role is conveying this ethos to my colleagues, getting them to think about the issues and consider how HSEQ relates to our activities.

The EU is formulating an increasing number of environmental regulations. As HSEQ manager, my job also involves monitoring all applicable laws and standards and then making sure we not only comply with them, but go the extra mile – for example, by becoming early signatories to OGMP 2.0.”
