“Set procedures haven’t always been established, which makes you think carefully about how you want to tackle certain challenges.”
“As an Environmental Advisor in ONE-Dyas, one of the best things about my role is the sheer variety of tasks involved, working with colleagues across all the departments – both in the office and offshore. I also love research and the collection of science and data.
Best practice and regulations are moving forward so quickly that set procedures haven’t always been established, which makes you think carefully about how you want to tackle certain challenges. Research and collaboration are essential to finding the best way forward, which includes working closely with industry organisations and other companies. Using a drone to monitor offshore emissions is just one example.
It’s not all about preventing pollution though. Nature-focused tasks also play a part, like monitoring a kittiwake colony, researching the bird species that nest on our platforms, or even working with whale watchers to make sure whales are left undisturbed during seismic surveys.
I feel I can really make a positive change here, especially because ONE-Dyas is a relatively small organisation and keen to do things differently. It means my work doesn’t get lost in the grand scheme of things, but really can lead to real-world actions.”
