Axel Jansen - Safety & Emergency Response Coordinator

“Safety is all about doing things that little bit better every day.”

“I work to make our operations as safe as possible. The HSEQ department is here to help everyone across the entire workforce understand their role in keeping themselves, and their colleagues, safe from major accidents. That includes making agreements on safe working practices, recording any incidents that may occur, and recommending improvements. The best thing about my work is helping us to work a little more safely every single day.

How do we do that? Well, I spend a lot of my time out and about talking to people. Prevention is the most important part of my job, and an essential part of that is discussing incidents and near misses and then sharing learnings across the company. Above all, the most important thing is to communicate – making sure we can all relate to the rules and understand their value. By fostering an environment that prioritises the well-being of its workforce, I believe I can make a contribution to ONE-Dyas overall success, productivity, and reputation.

Even so, we are always aware that incidents might occur and so we have to be prepared at all times. That involves multidisciplinary thinking through every possible kind of major accident hazard and ensuring we have the measures in place to deal with any possible consequences.”
